How our USD–EUR reference rate works
The converter is intentionally simple: one documented source, the publication date beside every result, and no claim that a daily benchmark is a live market quote.
Data source
We request USD and EUR reference-rate data through our own API route from Frankfurter. Frankfurter makes institutional reference rates available in a developer-friendly format.
- Latest-rate endpoint for the converter.
- Historical endpoint for business-day chart points.
- Server-side caching to reduce upstream requests and keep the site inexpensive.
Update frequency
Reference rates are generally published on business days. Weekends and some holidays may show the latest previously published date. Every conversion displays the date returned by the source.
What the result does not include
The displayed amount does not automatically include a bank spread, card markup, transfer charge, cash-counter fee, tax, or intermediary-bank cost. Use the fee calculator to model a quoted markup and fixed charge.
Failure and stale-data behavior
If the upstream source is unavailable, the interface reports that the rate cannot be loaded instead of inventing a value. A cached response can be served for resilience, and older data is labelled when its age crosses our threshold.
